A Word From The President --
Referral Program is off the Ground

In August we began beta testing our new Referral Program with a small group of partners. The web-based, automated system is now up and running. We think it will soon become a model for how many businesses will develop quality leads.

Our early participants are already anticipating some referral fees. We now need to begin adding to our team of partners. Our ideal referral partners regularly talk to sales and/or customer service managers. Please check our website,
www.ccc24k.com/partner-referral-program.htm for all the information about joining the program.

Joining is free and there is money to be made.

Combining Sales Training with CRM Training

For many years now we have provided high quality training on the CRM software we sell – primarily GoldMine and Sage CRM. Over those years we have often been asked about actual sales training as well. “It’s fine to teach people which buttons to press on the keyboard, but how about teaching them how to get in front of prospects and what to do when they are in front of them. And, how to follow up too.”

Wouldn’t it be beneficial to combine some proven sales methodology with the more technical training we have always done? Several of our clients have embraced some of the better-known sales methodologies, like Miller Heiman, Sandler and Solution Selling.

These well known systems fit very nicely into the tools we already use. Look for an upcoming announcement about the new Sales and CRM Training Programs about to be released from Computer Control. If you are already using one of these sales methodologies and would like to review how they can be combined with your software, call us right away.

Go Wireless!

Sage CRM can be used in a wireless environment so e-mails, contact information and calendars can be linked/sync'd between your handheld device and your server database.

Every day it is becoming more common for business people to communicate with their customers and prospects via e-mail sent and received on their PDA or Cell Phone. This is good news. The bad news is that for most people, these e-mails never get recorded in their central CRM system. Further, due to storage limitations on the PDA's, these e-mail messages often get deleted with no record anywhere that they were sent and/or received.

With Sage CRM, a copy of these e-mail messages can be made to automatically file in the CRM system leaving a complete, centralized log of communications between your team members and your Customers and Prospects.

To find out if Sage CRM is the right CRM solution for your team contact Ted Chmura.

GoldMine Mobile Edition: Now GoldMine And Your PDA Can Talk

If you are a Road Warrior you will be pleased to know you can now get instant access to your GoldMine data with a PDA – a Palm or Pocket/PC device.

The new GoldMine Mobile Edition connects your GoldMine Corporate Edition database to your PDA and
eliminates the need for synchronization. Click here to read all about it (pdf).

With iGoldMine 6.6, GoldMine Corporate Edition users can access their office GoldMine System using any Web-Connected PC. Using just a Web Browser, you can log into your GoldMine to Add/Edit Contacts; Send and Receive your e-mail; Schedule and Complete Activities; View anyone's Calendar; Create/Update Sales Forecasts and Opportunities; Search the InfoCenter; and more.

Use iGoldMine to:

  • Reduce or Eliminate the need to Synchronize Data
  • Bolster Security (none of the data "lives" on the connecting computer - only on the Server)
  • Access your GoldMine from Home, the Airport, the Hotel Business Center, the Net-Cafe, or the Client Site
  • Avoid maintaining Locally Installed copies of GoldMine on Remote Computers.

If you already own GoldMine Corporate Edition, iGoldMine can be added to your system easily. If you are running the Standard d-Base version of GoldMine, iGoldMine is one more good reason to consider upgrading.

Web Harvesting:
A Turnkey Solution You Can't Afford to Pass Up

Visitors to your website are some of your very best prospects. Sometimes these are existing customers interested in doing additional business with you. Sometimes these are new prospects visiting you for the very first time. And, sometimes the visitors are your competitors; you should know about those visits also. Offering information from your website is a great way to position your business as an expert in its field, and a helpful expert to boot. But be careful not to give away too much information, especially if you're not getting anything in return.

If you offer your web visitors the benefit of requesting information, the request should come into your CRM system via a web form. The form should be designed to capture important contact data about the visitor. So you'll be offering valuable information to your web visitors AND be gaining valuable contact information for follow-up in return. It's Quid Pro Quo -- online.

If you already have a good CRM system (GoldMine certainly qualifies, but so do many others) you are more than halfway home. It's crucial that you have a web form properly coded so it is accurately processing requests for more information from your website. It's also important that your CRM application is set up to optimally manage web request follow-up, both short-term and long. At Computer Control, we've set these procedures in place both for ourselves and for our clients. We can bring this expertise to bear in your environment. Let us help you down the home stretch to properly harvesting all those people and dollars that keep surfing your website.

  Tech-Talk*
*For our Sage CRM clients, here's a Tech-Talk section specifically for you.

By following a few steps in the Administration module, you can have a drop down list of custom templates automatically appear when creating a new linked document.

From the Administration menu select Translations. We typed "tem" into the resulting Find field and a list of all current Template Translations is displayed:

There are two associated items you must create: Templatefiles (a path to the template file), and TemplateNames (the text you will see in the drop down list when you access your templates). The Caption Code is what ties them together (note: Caption Codes cannot contain spaces).

From the Action Menu on the right of the screen click New.

Here are two screenshots showing the information we entered to create a marketing letter template (Marketing2.dot) and a drop down item (Marketing FUP Letter). Note that the Caption Code for both is the same (MarketingLetter2).

Here's what the result of our work looks like when we perform a New Document action:

Creating these Templatefiles and TemplateNames makes it easier for sales and marketing people to quickly and accurately locate and merge documents. Try it out yourself or contact us and we can do it for you.

Here's a Little Scheduling Gotcha to Avoid
From our Data Diva, Jill Messier:

If you go to Schedule|Appointment (or any other activity type) and there is a highlighted cell on your Calendar, the date associated with the highlighted cell will be automatically plugged into the activity's Date field. So, on November 15 you might be scheduling a call back for another GoldMine User and, if you have a highlighted Calendar cell on, say, December 5, the date for the phone call will be 12/5, not 11/15.

Of course the best way to schedule activities in GoldMine (and avoid this unintended date selection) is by right-clicking on a single Calendar cell or clicking-and-dragging over a range of Calendar cells. This scheduling method precludes the possibility of the wrong date finding its way into the activity.

We Wander the

We wander the Web to identify very helpful (and sometimes, very esoteric) websites.

1. Adobe Acrobat Forum
Since Acrobat is such a pervasive tool, do yourself a favor and learn more about it. This User to User Forum has dozens of postings, some esoteric, some offer insight into basic use issues. You can register as a participant (then you can post questions and reply to others), or you can click on the LOG IN AS A GUEST icon to simply browse the forum.

2. The Easiest Way We've Found to Find a Phone Number Using Your Browser
The banner at the top of this page says it all, "Switchboard, the It's the Yellow Pages. Electrified." With this site, you can search for a business or personal phone number. You'll also get some basic contact information along with the results.
