A
Word From The President -- Client
Retention Powered by Technology
On
June 1st we will be releasing our new Client
Retention Monitor. It’s another
piece of freeware that we are releasing to our clients
and is the first step toward implementing a complete
Client Retention System.
This
graphical monitor has been in development for several years.
The current beta version integrates with QuickBooks
2003, 2004 and 2005 and provides a complete historical view
and explanation of your most important client retention statistics.
If you are running a current version of QuickBooks and you
are interested in improving your client retention, it’s
a no-brainer to install this retention monitor. Integration
with other accounting packages is coming soon.
Again,
the Client Retention Monitor
is free. It provides an enormous amount of detailed historical
data on your company’s client retention. It’s
the starting point for developing a complete, custom Client
Retention System that will improve your top
and bottom lines in a dramatic way. If you are also using
GoldMine, then you’ve already got most of the tools
you need.
If
the results from the Retention
Monitor get your attention, we can then move
on to the next step – implementing your Client
Retention System. That part isn’t free,
but discussing it is.
Check
our web site as we get closer to our target date.
We've
received very favorable response to eMarketing
with GoldMine. This one-day class will
show you how to create html e-mail templates for use in GoldMine
eMarketing campaigns. You'll learn how to optimize GoldMine
to provide you with the right e-mail list. You'll also learn
the "Rules of the eRoad" so you can take advantage
of the economy and reach of eMarketing and adhere to respectable,
responsible standards of conduct. Finally, you'll learn how
to efficiently process requests for more information and how
to handle the inevitable bouncebacks and remove requests.
While
we offer this class once a quarter in a public setting, we've
found it's even more popular as a customized class, scheduled
at your convenience. Contact CCC's Training Director Mike
DeLisa for more information.

GoldMine's
Project/Opportunity Manager Has Some New, Very Useful Options
Starting
with GoldMine 6.7, there are options that can be applied to
the Project and/or Opportunity Manager. From the main Project
(or Opportunity) Manager window click on the Configure Opportunity/Project
Manager icon (see the red box below).
The
Project (Opportunity) Manager Customization Properties window
appears. There are four Tabs:
Fields--allows you to add up to 5 new custom
fields to the Project/Opportunity Properties dialog box.
You can specify the field label, type (character, numeric,
date) and size.
Labels--(shown
above) allows you to rename the Project/Opportunity pre-defined
fields. This is great for companies who don't use the term
Manager and would rather use Leader, for
example.
Tabs--allows
you to remove unnecessary Tabs from the Project/Opportunity
(we've found this one very useful. If you don't track Competitors,
or Issues for example, you can remove the Tab and
make the Project/Opportunity screen cleaner and easier to
use. You can also re-order the Tabs to make them more intuitive
left to right.
Options--allows
you to 'sidestep' the Wizard. We've found the, more often
than not, GoldMIne Users don't use every Tab, so why use
the Wizard, which makes a 'stop' at every Tab? Currently
there is only this one option here but the fact that FrontRange
calls it Options suggests there will be more here in future
versions.

Did
you know Computer Control Corporation
does hardware and networking? Keep us in mind
when purchasing or servicing computers, printers, or networks
for your company.
We wander the Web to identify very helpful (and sometimes,
very esoteric) websites.
1.
ieSpell
-- Check for Typos on Any Web Page ieSpell
is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell
checks text input boxes on a webpage. It should come in
particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text
entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries) -- especially
Sage CRM Users! Even if your web application
already includes spell checking functionality, you might
still want to install this utility because it is definitely
much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to
store and use your personal word list across all your applications,
instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.
2.
Having a Website is Only the First Step The
whole topic area of "Web Optimization" is getting
a lot of buzz lately. Bottom line is, while meta-tags can
be helpful in gaining a high rating in Google searches,
a powerful way to win the ranking game is AdWords, Google's
approach to guaranteed site optimization. It's a cross between
Marketing 101 and Casino Gaming. You create an AdWord profile
and then allocate a budget to it. If you're bid on a keyword
is higher than anybody else's, you appear at the top of
the list. (One criticism of AdWords is that the list we're
talking about here is in a column to the RIGHT of the main
Google listing.) Anyway, it's worth an investigation: https://adwords.google.com/select/main?cmd=Login
