The Paperless Office in the World of Finance

Last issue, we announced our association with LaserFiche, the premier provider of paperless document management software. As we've deployed several installations of the product, we're even more excited about its potential. A natural match for LaserFiche is the financial sector. Thousands of critical documents, linked to specific clients, stored in an easy-to-sort file structure, and don't forget legal compliance issues. LaserFiche shines in each area.

Here's a diagrammatic overview:

To demonstrate the features and benefits of LaserFiche and the Paperless Office, we're now scheduling seminars to take place in July where you can see it in action. Invitations will go out soon.

If you would like additional information about LaserFiche, you can check out their website at: www.laserfiche.com

FrontRange Updates CRM With E-Mail Integration, Synchronization

FrontRange Solutions is updating GoldMine's link with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook, promising tighter integration and better synchronization. GoldMine Sales & Marketing 2002 will make it easier for small and midsize businesses to foster collaboration between sales and support people who need CRM and colleagues who may need to team with them but don't want the full application.

A user can now access Goldmine functions from the Outlook toolbar to do some important tasks without even opening the application.

The product's support for the iCalendar spec means that FrontRange users can also share appointments with users of other mail systems including Lotus Notes/Domino, Eudora and others.

The FrontRange product also offers "one-button" synchronization to ease offline use.

The product also has enhanced Org Chart capabilities and functions. Users can roll up all of their account contacts pending, or the history of an account by company or account name. You can receive documentation on the new Org Chart capabilities by clicking here.

To learn more, contact Computer Control Corporation by phoning (888) 250-8400 TODAY.

Tips & Tricks from CCC's GoldMine Gurus

Wild Card in the Contact Listing Window

Assuming your database is SQL, you can increase the power of the Contact Listing window when searching for a client. Use the % symbol as a wild card in the Find Value field to optimize search options.

In the example below, we're able to find all Companies with "alum" ANYWHERE in their names:

This same tip can be used when you're searching for an Additional Contact by Last Name (thanks Karen Telese). Remember: in order to use this wild card, your GoldMine database MUST BE SQL.

A Neat Trick for Dealing with Worm Viruses (Ever Heard of NIMDA?)

While the NIMDA virus has come and gone, there may be a new species of the same kind of viru in our futures, so we thought this tip might be useful.

As you may know, when/if a worm virus gets into your computer it heads straight for your email address book and sends itself to everyone in there, thus infecting all your friends and associates.

This trick won't keep the virus from getting into your computer, but it will stop it from using your address book to spread further, and it will alert you to the fact that the worm has gotten into your system.

Here's what you do:

First: Open your address book and click on "new contact" or "new person" just as you would do if you were adding a new friend to your list of email addresses.

Second: In the window where you would type your friend's FIRST name, type in !000 (that's an exclamation mark followed by 3 zeros). In the window below where it prompts you to enter the new email address, type in WormAlert.

Third: Then complete everything by clicking Add, Enter, OK, etc.

Now, here's what you've done and why it works: the "name" !000 will be placed at the top of your address book as entry #1. This will be where the worm will start in an effort to send itself to all your friends.

But when it tries to send itself to !000, it will be undeliverable because of the phony email address you entered (WormAlert). If the first attempt fails (which it will because of the phony address), the worm goes no further and your friends will not be infected.

Here's the second great advantage of this method: If an email cannot be delivered, you will be notified of this in your InBox almost immediately.

Hence, if you ever get an email telling you that an email addressed to WormAlert could not be delivered, you know right away that you have the worm virus in your system. You can then take steps to get rid of it.

Pretty slick huh? Pass this on to your friends.

    Some Great News & Links
We peruse the press and wander the Web to identify great sources of insight on CRM and small business success. Below are three links we thought you might enjoy:

1. Track Flight Arrivals
This site will tell you exactly where any flight is at any given moment. All you need is the origin and destination city (even if you forgot the flight number!). You can also look for delays by tracking scheduled departures and be on the lookout for possible weather or operational snafus.

2. Get Diirections
We think this one is even better than Mapquest! There's a cool LineDrive feature that maps just the roads you'll travel.

3. Avoid Speed Traps
Enter your planned route and thses guys will tell you where the most likely Smokey activity will be. This site can also teach you the rules of the road for foreign countries.
